Sandra was particularly helpful to me in the run-up to the 2023 Berks meeting. I had neglected to book a hotel room in time, and when I realized that, the dorms were already booked. She went out of her way to find me housing on campus, a process that involved many emails and an out-of-system financial arrangement. I was very grateful for her assistance in resolving this problem, a complication that was entirely my own fault. That is the most recent encounter I had with her, but I believe was exactly how she was for all of us – patient and helpful at all times, she just wanted us to enjoy the meeting.
I can hardly express how shocked I was to learn this news, she will be deeply missed by the women’s history community.
