INVITATION TO JOIN THE LITTLE BERKS, SPONSOR OF THE TRIENNIAL BERKSHIRE CONFERENCE ON THE HISTORY OF WOMEN
The Berkshire Conference of Women Historians invites all women professionally engaged in history, pursuing graduate study in history, or dedicated to historical inquiry to join. Scholars of any historical field are welcome. You may follow this link to join online or print out a form and send it to us with your payment.
Members receive notice of the annual meeting of the Berkshire Conference of Women Historians (or the “Little Berks”). For seventy years the Berkshire Conference has been meeting annually for a weekend of relaxation and informal talk about history. These meetings are an excellent opportunity to network, exchange ideas, and discuss issues of concern to historians.
Prospective members may wonder about our relationship to the Berkshire Conference on the History of Women (also known as the “Big Berks”), the internationally famous women’s history conference held every three years. The answer is that the Berkshire Conference of Women Historians originated and now sponsors and helps plan the Berkshire Conference on the History of Women.
The Big Berks is not a membership organization or a series of retreats. You do not have to be a member of the Berkshire Conference of Women Historians to attend or give a paper at the Berkshire Conference on the History of Women.
